I agree! I love a once-a-week drop. There's time to think about it, discuss it, and absorb it before a new episode comes in...and you get to do it all over again. With other people! On a creative level, bingeing bums me out (not that I never do it!) because so much time and work from so many people was put into the making and then ... it's just gobbled up. I'm not saying every meal is worth savoring, but when they are, I feel so much more fed.
I sometimes emerge from an evening just going next episode, next episode feeling tired and overloaded. Bit like when you go for a meal and just have too much of a good thing, it can take you a while to recover! Some of the more soap-like shows (Castle, I'm looking at you) stand up better to a binge, possibly because they're a bit... lighter on calories?
My honest answer is that it depends on the show. For shows I watch with my husband, who is very resistant to binge-watching, we tend to watch one episode at a time. But I just binged the first three seasons of Slow Horses and loved it.
The one constant is that however I watch them, I don't want them to be over. 🥲
Hi Dave, nice to see you. We treated ourselves to a new phone for JoJo and an iPad for me to replace 10 year old gear … so free Apple TV for 3 months. We are binging all of the back episodes of Slow Horses. Excellent. We also haven’t had a TV for about 5 years so we have a small one coming that can be put away between watchings … and only for the winter. We might stick with Apple TV or reactivate our Netflix account. On the lookout for recommendations so this is timely.
I'd also recommend Severance on Apple TV. It's sublime. Very weird, but stick with it. I've watched it twice now and am probably going in for a third watch
Oh, yes, see also Ted Lasso binged with a binge of ironing!
I enjoyed the first season of Ted Lasso and I'm really not into football in the slightest. Still got the rest to catch up on
Likewise. The characters are great. The football is incidental

I appreciate this new rating system consisting of calories. :)
I wrote a blog post about book star review ratings and it was very food related! https://espressococo.substack.com/p/book-reviews-star-ratings
Definitely checking this out!
Yeah, I've (almost) stopped binging and like you are loving Tuesdays for OMITB!

I do also some shows, I must admit. But I'm with you in not wanting them to be over!
Very old school - episodic watcher - with you on Slow Horses, much enjoyed Ripley and have just discovered Pachinko....
